ECONIT WOOD

Wood might be the most extraordinary construction material. However, interior application often comes with a trade-off, as it is flammable and often needs to be surface treated. Then it loses many of its benefits as it becomes waste that cannot be recycled. By combining econit with scrap wood aggregates, we are able to produce elements that can be very complex, sustainable, and (through the use of the econit-matrix) non-flammable. Further properties are excellent thermal insulation, acoustic absorption, and a final product that can be considered CO2-neutral.

Material: Wood (Spruce)
Technology: Selective Cement Activation
Application: Interiors and accoustic elements
Goal: By combining econit with wood, we aimed to create a CO2 neutral and non-flammable material with excellent thermal and acoustic properties for interior application.
