about this project:
for an office building design by berschneider + berschneider, we developed a 3,000 m² façade system to work phase 5: a 3d-printed shading lattice in a glass-based composite with 70% recycled content, finished in le corbusier’s orange vif. the design engine seeds points across the building’s kubatur and iteratively connects them only when performance rules are met—solar shading, structural span and stiffness, member spacing/angles, assembly clearances—rearranging points when penalties are triggered. once targets are satisfied, the network becomes a volumetric weave and is automatically panelised into fabrication-ready units, each with defined joints, tolerances, and handling logic. the final package specifies 636 unique panels of roughly 5 m², coordinated for transport, installation sequence, and long-term maintenance.
