about this project:
for david černý’s h-a-v-e-l (“letter girl”) at the václav havel library in prague, we delivered the bronze-casting plan from the artist’s digital model: we divided the figure into castable sections, set parting lines around undercuts, applied shrinkage allowances, and designed gating/risers. as patterns we produced pmma parts via binder jetting; these were investment-shelled and burned out to yield clean bronze casts that preserve the lettered volume. the result keeps the typography crisp at the library entrance while creating an illusion of between 2d and 3d.
